The series Outside-In explores the built environment and its relationship to our emotional, psychological, and spiritual states. Individual images and the body of work as a whole play with the many layers of how we experience ‘outside’ and ‘in’ as beings in the physical world, traversing shelter and space, the familiar and unknown, looking out and looking in, feeling invited and repelled. Windows, walls, and doors surround us, both physically and conceptually. They are the structures that stand between separation and connection, private and public, visible and invisible, outside and in. This project conceives of windows, walls, and doors in both actual and imagined ways -- invoking their presence, their absence, and their metaphoric power. The images in this series will rotate regularly.
